Pressure Washer Not Spraying Water

If no water exits the nozzle at all, the cause is almost always before the pump: a closed spigot, a kinked or crushed supply hose, a clogged external inlet screen, air trapped in the supply line, or a removable nozzle blocked solid. Safe diagnostic flow for no water output

Work through these external checks in order. Only observe parts the manufacturer designates as user-serviceable, and always follow your exact operator manual for access, flow, and priming steps. The machine must be off, unplugged or shut off, and pressure released before you remove any accessory.

  1. Open the water source fully. Confirm the spigot is open all the way and the garden hose is not kinked, crushed, or leaking. A restricted source is the single most common reason no water reaches the washer.
  2. Test the supply hose alone. Disconnect the garden hose from the pressure washer inlet and run it into a bucket. If water does not flow freely from the hose alone, the supply or the hose is the problem — not the pressure washer.
  3. Inspect the external inlet screen. With the machine off and pressure released per the manual, remove the external inlet screen. Clean or replace it if it is clogged or damaged. Never reach past the screen into the pump.
  4. Bleed air from the supply path. Air trapped between the spigot and the pump can block output. Follow the manual's priming or air-bleed procedure exactly, with the machine off and pressure released.
  5. Inspect the removable nozzle. Remove the nozzle per the manual and check for a solid blockage. Clean or replace it only as the manual allows, matching the exact model and specification.
